Every now and again I meet a true hospitality innovator.
Someone who sees around corners and whose vision anticipates trends before they happen.
In this episode of the Restaurant Rockstars Podcast, I speak with Mr. James Geier. He’s an artist, sculptor and designer at heart, turned restaurateur and event impresario (more on this in a moment).
For nearly 3 decades his design studio 555 International has been revered by top sports teams, leading hotels and Michelin Starred restaurants for creating cutting-edge experiences.
James predicted that Chicagoland’s Fulton Market Warehouse District would ultimately become one of the hottest restaurant and entertainment draws in the Midwest. In an area now populated by pricey upscale eateries, he created “Morgan’s on Fulton Event Space” and “Marvin’s Food and Fuel”.
With a nostalgic look back to the 50’s and 60’s, Marvin’s features a sit down or take-out experience offering classic comfort food and “TV Dinners”.
Rather than the exclusive vibe of the neighborhood eateries, James believes in offering an “inclusive” experience where everyone is welcome and treated like an old friend. This approach is really a culture where the staff are an extension of their dynamic owner and leader.
